Persis is seeking a HMI (user experience) Designer who will contribute to the development of emerging Telematics features and services related to our Smart Grid initiative. As a member of the Smart Grid team, this individual will participate on a small team of elite professionals throughout the entire systems development lifecycle from concept creation to product delivery.
This position is an exciting engineering position on the forefront of Human Factors design and the Telematics industry. The person would be responsible for design, development, and testing of web and mobile user interfaces for B2B and B2C domains. The specific requirements below all include some level of creativity, ingenuity, and/or methodical analysis within the bounds of understanding and designing for "the user".
Essential Responsibilities
Consult on various Human Factors projects for emerging services
Create roadmap for usability, cost, and customer satisfaction for various customer interfaces (e.g. web, mobile, in-vehicle, Advisor)
Create suggested graphics (comps) and/or voice interactions given various prototype or graphical tools
Evaluate competitive interfaces for usability performance, enablers, and future applications
Run usability testing on prototypes for task completion, efficiency, satisfaction, etc.
Create reports (in Word, PowerPoint, Excel) for suggested implementation(s) with supporting data
Deliver presentations to upper-management on recommended steps.
Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations
Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products

Qualifications: |
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelors Degree in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, Experimental Psychology or concentration in relevant/equivalent field or equivalent training (Minimum)
Masters Degree or higher (Preferred)
Required Technical skills:
5+ years experience with an automotive OEM, Tier 1 supplier, or wireless/consumer electronics company performing human factors design in product development
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Well experienced with: Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver
Visio and other diagram and presentation tools
Applies continuous improvement to designs based upon usability data and metrics
Capability to estimate design times
Self-starter with excellent coordination and organization skills.
Understands internal and external customer requirements and deliverables
Good understanding of statistical analysis and design of experiments
Significant technical and engineering experience in one or more of the following areas of user interface development and assessment: Visual Display (e.g. web, mobile, telltales, text and/or graphical displays), Audio Display (e.g. tones, sound bytes, voice rec. prompts), or Physical interfaces (e.g. console, faceplate, etc.)
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others as well as independently
Preferred Technical skills:
Significant experience with new service product development including rapid prototyping, and automotive systems such as; telematics, audio, multimedia, navigation or infotainment systems
Knowledge of Android SDK and iPhone Interface Builder
Demonstrated experience with cross-functional teams consisting of Marketing, Engineering, Product Development and Information Technology.
Training in design of automotive telematics systems and components
Insight into future product technology, tools and product marketing trends
