About the Job:
The Assistant Director of the Road Maintenance Division of the Department of Public Services assists the Director in oversight of personnel, equipment, and materials used to perform Road Maintenance, Structure Maintenance, Traffic Operations, Forestry Operations, and Division Administration. Responsibilities include: direct supervision of personnel at Central Maintenance Yard and ten satellite work yards; creation and implementation of strategic planning; implementing programs of staff development; preparation of annual budgets with DPS Administration and the Department of Management and Budget; representing the Division in union grievance matters and; collaborating with the other DPS Divisions to ensure the efficient maintenance of Wayne County property and infrastructure; reviewing and strategic planning of annual road maintenance projects; strategic planning of seasonal snow and ice removal; solving citizen complaints; attendance at various meetings with the public as a representative of DPS Road Maintenance Division.
 
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or  a related field of study is preferred.

AND

A Professional Engineer's License from the State of Michigan

AND

Five years of experience in Roads Maintenance/Construction with Three years of management, administrative, or executive experience in public works administration and strategic planning. Prior experience should include supervision of personnel, planning and implementation of road construction and maintenance projects, experience with collective bargaining, budgeting, fiscal responsibilities, as well as oversight of staff and various road projects.

AND

A valid State of Michigan driver's license with a safe and acceptable driving record.
