A Master's Degree in Public Health or Epidemiology from an accredited college or university; AND
At least one (1) year of full-time paid post-degree experience in a public health or health care setting. Experience must include working with one or more of the following: communicable disease prevention; chronic diseases; food borne diseases; and/or outbreak investigations; AND Experience MUST include computer report generation and analysis; AND
A valid State of Michigan driver's license and an acceptable safe driving record. (INDICATE MICHIGAN DRIVER'S LICENSE NUMBER ON FRONT OF APPLICATION).
NOTE: Experience using Microsoft software applications and CDC Epi Info and other Statistical Software such as SPSS or SAS is preferred.
Candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends, as necessary. Appointees will be required to have an automobile available for transportation during working hours on a mileage reimbursement basis.
DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES
Under the direction of the Public Health Nurse Supervisor, the Epidemiology Manager will conduct disease surveillance and recommend disease control measures; develop programs and strategies to prevent communicable and chronic diseases; evaluate, analyze and interpret communicable and chronic disease data and other data as appropriate. The Epidemiology Manager will also act as a member of outbreak investigation and response team; report epidemiologic information to the medical community and public and maintain public health epidemiological databases.
