Objective
Adapt MDPS systems to OEM vehicles in the North American region

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead North American mechanical system activities for MDPS lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement) with support from Korea HQ
  • Work closely with customers and team to identify and refine requirements and constraints
  • Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements
  • Conduct experiments methodically, analyze data and interpret results
  • Evaluate final product's overall performance, reliability and safety, including DFMEA
  • Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions
  • Estimate budget and scope of potential projects
  • Prepare product reports and documentation

Experience Level

  • 3-7 years in mechanical design for automotive applications

Educational Requirement

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering

Skills/Experience
    Required:

  • Experience designing and analyzing automotive components using CAD/CAE tools (Catia, Solidworks, Pro/E, AutoCAD, Unigraphics, Ansys, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of design concepts including mechanics, mechatronics, kinematics, materials science, etc. 

    Desired:

  • Hands-on experience with Catia
  • Product lifecycle management/development process experience at automotive Tier 1 or OEM
  • Tier 1 supplier experience adapting core products/technology to multiple vehicle platforms
  • Steering system design and analysis
  • Good problem finding and solving ability
  • Good interpersonal, writing, and communication skills
  • Experience reverse engineering automotive systems
  • Solid understanding of steering systems, preferably electrically driven power steering
  • Working knowledge of or fluency in Korean language

 Key Result Areas & Success Indicators

  • Adapt MDPS system to North American demonstration vehicle
  • Support business development activity with preliminary mechanical design/analysis related to customer requirements
  • Local adaption of Korean HQ development process and tools for mechanical design

Travel Requirements

  • 10-20% for business trips, domestic and abroad
