Summary/Objective

The project leader position is responsible for leading a software project team within DAS Advanced Engineering to achieve the project scope and schedule with the assigned resources. Advanced Engineering projects are typically internal R&D efforts related to autonomous driving L2/3/4 initiatives. Responsibilities are for the full V-model, including supporting project detailed definition from high-level scope, leading detailed design efforts, planning project schedules to achieve the desired scope and deliverables, guiding the team to implement the code/models, unit testing in SIL/MIL, and often vehicle testing. A major part of this position is also to provide a proactive interface between the department leadership, internal customers, and the technical/programming staff to ensure effective definition and completion of the project. To do so, strong small team leadership, understanding of autonomous driving, DAS/ADAS, application design, and project management skills are essential. 

Essential Functions 

  • Lead the design, development and delivery of assigned software projects.
  • Collaborate to detail high-level project goals/plans into actionable plans.
  • Lead project teams of 5-10 engineers in their day-to-day activities.
  • Lead design and review sessions with technical and business staffs, including all levels of management.
  • Manage projects using formal agile project planning techniques.
  • Track and report accurate project status and risks, identifying issues early to engage management in helping find solutions
  • Establish and maintain relationships within and outside the department.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct functional supervisory responsibilities, but does lead the project team and serve as a coach and mentor for others in the department. 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of advanced engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading software development teams with project management responsibilities.
