Design, analyze, develop and test both steering and advanced driver assistance systems through model-based feedback control, and physical system modeling

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate control/estimation approaches through physical testing (laboratory and test track), computer simulation and analytic techniques
  • Devise test procedures for verification of system hardware and feedback compensators
  • Prepare reports on projects, and documentation of models/controllers
  • Engage with customers with internal collaborators to generate useful control parameters that provide intuitive and direct tuning
  • Assist in mechanical and electrical fabrication needs (e.g., harnesses, stands and other experimental setups)

Educational Requirement:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with emphasis on control system/theory

Skills and Experience:

  • 1-7 years of experience (combination of Master's studies, professional work experience, OR Bachelor with 5 years' practical work experience)


  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of classical and modern control/estimation methods
  • Experience with modeling, analysis and simulation of mechatronic systems with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Strong written and Oral Communication Skills


  • Good understanding of automotive systems (e.g., passive and active steering, electric actuators, suspensions, brakes)
  • Knowledge of Vector CANape, and considerations for on-target prototyping (e.g., discrete implementation, sensor and actuator non-idealities, system latency)
