Job Description:

The Equal Employment Opportunity Coordinator will further the Mission of the Personnel/HR Department, which is to foster a safe, productive, working environment free of discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliatory practices, through training, guidance, support and advocacy services; whereby, allowing the delivery of effective, efficient and high quality services to the public. This position will Investigate and resolve all harassment and discrimination complaints that involve Wayne County and lead and manage the unemployment processing for the County.

Job Duties:

  • Investigate and resolve internal and external EEO complaints.
  • Conduct interviews, as appropriate, as part of internal investigations.
  • Create reports detailing and summarizing the results of internal investigations.
  • Compile and file the bi-annual EEO4 filing.
  • Support procurement and grant administration by supplying EEO demographics.
  • Research and interpret regulations, laws and Executive Orders regarding EEO matters.
  • Attend special conferences with Union Representatives, Departmental Representatives, and Labor Relations Analyst regarding harassment and discrimination complaints.
  • Review and revise all harassment and discrimination training materials.
  • Manage employee complaint processing and related reporting.
  • Respond to requests for additional information from the EEOC and/or MDCR.
  • Reviews complaints and reports of investigation submitted by Departmental Representatives to ensure compliance with EEO laws and ensure thoroughness of the reports.
  • Negotiate resolutions between management, complainants, EEOC, and MDCR when necessary.
  • Provide counseling to employees.
  • Provide guidance to Departments on how to conduct investigations
  • Identify and recommend resolutions to problems by monitoring EEOC/MDCR complaints.
  • Advise managers and employees regarding EEO Laws, Personnel Polices, County HR and LR practices, Civil Service Rules and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Confer and coordinate with Corporation Counsel as appropriate.
  • Lead the entire unemployment claims processing and resolution lifecycle.
