In the Department of Public Services, the Director of Communications & Community Outreach will plan, direct, design, create and implement the dissemination of the Departmental information to the media, public and internal/external customers. This position is responsible for the development, distribution and maintenance of all printed and electronic material including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, annual reports and e-newsletters. The position will coordinate activities designed to create and maintain a favorable public image. This position is critical to the success of creating strategies that are focused on creating and sustaining the understanding and awareness of Department of Public Services strategic priorities, goals, and objectives that are aligned with Wayne County's mission.

Wayne County is targeting professionals who possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Art/Visual Media or a closely related degree as determined by the Department of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in Public Relations, Press/Media Communications, Visual Marketing, Community Outreach.
