The Economic Development Project Manager supports the activities of the Wayne County Economic Development Department primarily through the coordination of development project process and facilitation of communication between County departments and with external agencies. The coordinator will also facilitate completion of projects where both a community and Wayne County are working through separate approval processes, to ensure timely and mutually successful completion.

  • Work with business development managers to understand development projects, identify bottlenecks and issues that can be addressed, and develop work and communication strategies to facilitate efficient and fast project completion
  • Proficient communication with varied departments, including buildings, permits, public services, economic development, and executive offices
  • Ability to maintain positive communications with all internal and external project constituents; able to identify and manage competing needs between constituents.
  • Supports special projects
  • Supports marketing and communications projects and strategies.
  • Provide support for special projects and events

Education and Experience


  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Urban Planning, Economics, Public Administration, General Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Master's degree preferred


  • Have at least three (3) years of full-time professional work experience in project management or closely related area
  • Strong writing experience
  • Experience with real estate, urban planning, public administration, and/or economic development preferred.
  • Experience in developing presentations and presentation packages
