  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, Industrial Safety or Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Must be detailed oriented and possess an ability to work within tight timelines and in pressure situations.
  • Must possess a strong ability to work collaboratively.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Proven ability to find creative solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Description of Major Job Duties

Under the general direction of the Safety Manager and Safety Engineers, the Safety Intern is responsible for assisting in the development, coordination and implementation of employee occupational safety and health programs, fleet and building safety; accident prevention; loss control; methods, procedures and programs; investigative documentation and reconstruction of potential liability incidents involving County personnel, equipment and co-owned or controlled buildings; adherence to state and federal laws in arrears of industial hygiene, occupational safety, environmental safety and fire protection and the development of fire safety evacuation and training programs; monitors the safety performance of all construction operations in assigned areas, performs accident analysis and track employee injury and illness reports and complete monthly MIOSHA required injury and illness logs.
