The Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility is currently seeking a Senior Psychologist to assist in providing the initial psychiatric evaluation/intake evaluation of new inmates coming into the psychiatric system at the Wayne County Jails or new residents entering the Juvenile Detention Facility. The Senior Psychologist provides therapeutic interviews, administers and interprets psychological tests and other diagnostic tests and procedures needed to classify prisoners or juvenile residents, and serves as a resource person, supervises/trains other mental health professionals and related staff in the Juvenile Detention Facility. The Senior Psychologist functions as a multi-disciplimary mental health treatment team member at the Wayne County Jails or Juvenile Detention Facility and participates in clinical and administrative meetings, and functions as the primary therapist/case coordinator for each individual on the psychologist's caseload, maintains a fulll clinical patient load which includes providing intake evaluations, testing, individual and group psychological therapy, treatment planning, and follow-up care for residents assigned to their case load, maintains and updates all individual treatment plans for case assignments, assists in the development of treatment discharge plans by the interdisciplinary team or primary therapist, attends Community Mental Health Board area meetings and participates in the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement program in the department, and DSM-IV diagnosis and treatment planning

 

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Master's or Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited college or university and a valid license by the State of Michigan as a fully licensed psychologist and must also have 3 years of full-time paid experience of which 1 year may include supervised clinical experience in Psychology including the internship requirements for the Master's Degree, providing therapeutic treatment to mentally ill adults or juveniles.
