Leading and Supervising

  • Overall responsibility for the local engineering team to deliver robust and highly cost effective products which satisfy all industry, customer, and company requirements, along with support from R&D HQ.
  • Establish group objectives and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to processes and tools required for team engineering goals.
  • Champion employee development and training.
  • Will seek to establish customer relationships for mutual, long-term benefit.
  • Consult with Expatriate coordinator to enhance communication with R&D HQ

Customer interfacing/Liaison works (Team job description)

  • All aspects of product design and development, from customer concept thru final requirements, review with customer and communication/coordination with MOBIS HQ.
  • Conduct feasibility reviews and communicate with Customer and MOBIS HQ for all development engineering issues.
  • Control and support engineering data/documents delivery between customer and MOBIS HQ.
  • Support identification and resolution of Quality issues on Head/Tail Lamp between customer and MOBIS HQ.
  • Support customer development stage events based on product development timing such as Lit Mockup and Plywood Mockup sample build, DV/PV Test, EMC Test between Customer and MOBIS HQ.
  • Play an interactive role as a Liaison Engineer between Customer and MOBIS HQ.
  • Perform benchmarking and technology trend survey on Automotive Lighting system for North American market.

Local Engineering works (Future Goal of local Engineering team, with supporting from HQ)

  • Direct, review, and approve all product designs according to established company processes from quotation through product launch.
  • Lead root cause analysis and drive proper corrective actions for technical issues.
  • Maintain industry standards while balancing the need for cost effectiveness and high quality.
  • In-depth knowledge of plastic injection molding process, tooling, and related materials.
  • Drive continuous improvement of product design for reduced cost, increased performance, and high quality.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes involved with lighting and trim products such as ultrasonic welding, vibration welding, annealing, glue/epoxy dispensing, stamping, vacuum metallization, and painting.
  • Keen system level focus upon up defining and verifying product engineering requirements and related vehicle interface requirements.
  • Ability to drive product ideation from concept stage through product calculation and quotation.
  • Prioritize and guide group activities to design new products, modify existing products, and optimize designs for assembly.


  • About 20+ years of experience in product design or working in the automotive industry, as well as 5+ years' experience in Leading/Managing role.
  • Engineering Degree- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Working knowledge of engineering concepts and principles.
  • Knowledge of DFSS, FMEA, Design for Manufacturability, GD&T, and tolerance stack analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of Stage gate product development, Lean Concepts, QFD, PPAP, and CPPM preferred.
  • Process knowledge in casting, machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and PCB board assembly.
  • Understanding of lighting technology, source types and electrical components
  • Experience utilizing/designing for regulatory testing processes
  • Excellent communication skill in terms of collaborating with R&D, marketing, manufacturing, domestic and third party suppliers and customers.
  • Excellent ability to identify and drive resolution to engineering problems.
  • Ability to travel to manufacturing locations in the USA and global locations.
  • Work on-site but also frequently offsite at customer facilities.
  • Knowledge of thermal analysis of design solutions preferred.
  • Previous automotive lighting engineering leading experience at OEM preferred.
  • International joint work experience.
