SCOPE:

The Project Manager will work under the management of the Deputy Director of Economic Development. The Project Manager may deal with a full range of services including research, identifying and communicating with eligible businesses, maintaining up-to-date records, drafting grant applications, engaging in planning activities, developing initiative frameworks and presentations, and providing education on initiatives to internal and external county actors.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with the resources of the Economic Development Department, the Project Manager shall:

  • Execute grant programs for placemaking initiatives and business enhancements, working with Management and Budget, and stakeholders in Highland Park government.
  • Work with the Wayne County Land Bank and other large property holders in Highland Park to assemble parcels for various land activation and development activities.
  • Work with Wayne County Land Bank to identify and clear as many tangled titles/heirs' properties in Highland Park as possible, especially within proximity to the Joe Louis Greenway.
  • Coordinate with Economic Development Department Project Managers on strategies for affordable and missing middle housing in Highland Park as well as the use of the Highland Park high School site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Prefer experience working in diverse, decentralized organizations, ideally in the public sector.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Undergraduate or graduate (preferred) studies in Economics, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Sustainability, or a related area of study or equivalent work experience.
  • A combination of education and experience deemed to be equivalent may be considered.
