Design Systems, Inc. (DSI) is a leading engineering consulting firm that specializes in designing and implementing complex systems for the automotive and manufacturing industries. We are seeking a talented Conveyor Engineer to join our growing team and support our conveyor system design and installation projects.
As a Conveyor Engineer at Design Systems, Inc., you will be responsible for performing detailed conveyor layouts and engineering studies, supporting project installation, and collaborating with junior engineers and project teams. This role requires an individual with hands-on conveyor design and field experience in automotive manufacturing environments.
Perform conveyor layouts, including:
Conveyor path routing
Header steel design
Screen guard integration
Conduct conveyor engineering studies, such as:
Cycle time analysis
Throughput calculations
Cording and accumulation studies
Chain pull calculations and evaluations
Lead or participate in conveyor engineering meetings and coordination sessions
Mentor and support junior engineers on conveyor-related projects
Review and validate engineering drawings and documentation
Participate in field support and installation of conveyor systems
Conduct conveyor health assessments at customer sites
Collaborate with the project team to coordinate installation activities, track progress, and ensure alignment with project goals
Required:
2-3 years of recent experience with conveyor layout design (specifically power & free or friction drive conveyors)
Strong understanding of header steel and screen guard design and layouts
Experience conducting cycle time studies and analyzing chain pull outputs
Exposure to conveyor system installations, including field support
Familiarity with automotive manufacturing environments (preferably body, paint, and assembly shops)
Ability to travel
Excellent collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred:
Experience working with design tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD platforms
Familiarity with simulation or modeling software for cycle and throughput analysis
Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience in a technical setting
