Wayne County Department of Public Services is offering exciting opportunities for individuals in the Engineering Division field. The Wayne County Department of Public Services Engineering Division is responsible for providing engineering and technical services to support the programs and activities of the Department of Public Services, Wayne County, and its partners. The Engineering Division' s primary focus is coordinating road improvement projects between the 43 communities in Wayne County and the Michigan Department of Transportation. Successful candidates will be exposed to a wide variety of engineering projects.
DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES
The Engineer - Entry Level can may be assigned to one of the multiple offices within the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Services and perform a variety of engineering duties in planning, designing, testing, and overseeing construction projects such as roads, bridges, pumphouses and stormwater systems. The Engineer - Entry Level, under the general direction of a higher-level engineer or higher level technician, will perform various complex assignments related to the design, plan review, construction inspection, testing, traffic and permits of the Engineering Division.
The Engineer - Entry level will be assigned to the Department's Engineering-In-Training (EIT) program for 2 years and work a minimum of 6-months of training in 4 of the following sections: Planning, Design, Traffic & Safety, Testing, Permits and Surveying. The Design & Surveying Units will be required by all candidates; the other six-months intervals of training will be in the sections listed above by choice.
