Purpose/Description

The Executive Assistant 1 provides high-level administrative, analytical, and operational support to the Senior Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP). This position supports the daily administrative operations for the Senior HRBP and assists with the coordination, execution, and implementation of key Personnel/Human Resources (P/HR) functions, departmental initiatives, and activities, while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information and communications. The Executive Assistant 1 supports P/HR programs and projects, ensuring effective and efficient communication both within the HRBP team and across County departments. This role requires a high degree of discretion, strong attention to detail, and a solid understanding of HR practices, policies, and procedures. The Executive Assistant 1 serves as a liaison between the Senior HRBP, HRBP's, County employees, vendors, and external partners, contributing to the overall effectiveness, professionalism, and integrity of a high-performing HR operation.

Required Tasks

  • Provide confidential and comprehensive executive support to the Senior HRBP.
  • Manage daily administrative functions such as scheduling, correspondence, meeting preparation, and document management.
  • Coordinate special projects and HR initiatives related to HRBP activities and responsibilities.
  • Prepare reports, memos, dashboard summaries, and other documentation using spreadsheets, databases, or HR systems.
  • Organize department meetings, workshops, and events; prepare materials and record minutes.
  • Respond to employee and vendor inquiries, routing information to appropriate staff or divisions.
  • Support HRBP functions in data analytics, and project tracking.
  • Help maintain departmental standard operating procedures and suggest workflow improvements.
  • Foster strong relationships among departments, vendors, and community partners to support Wayne County's HR goals.
  • Perform other assigned duties consistent with department needs.

Qualifications

Educational/Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma and three (3) years of full time paid Human Resources experience, administrative, or customer service support required OR
  • An Associate degree in Business Administration, Human Resource, Management or related field and one (1) year of full time paid Human Resources experience, administrative, or customer service support required.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of HRIS and Applicant tracking systems.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Share Point.
