DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES
The Retirement Associate will work under the Division Director of the Wayne County Employees' Retirement System. The Retirement Associate is responsible for providing offsite of New Employee Orientation to all newly hired and rehired Wayne County employees, Third Circuit Court employees, and Wayne County Sheriff employees. Under direct supervision from the Division Director, the Retirement Associate will compose and process all retiree quarterly newsletters and the monthly active newsletter.
Required Tasks
- Oversight of internal communications output
- Development of a strategic communication plan for New Employee Orientation
- Attendance at all New Employee Orientations for Wayne County, Third Circuit Court, and Wayne County Sheriff's
- Ensure consistency in communication strategy that aligns with the Retirement System's strategic vision
- Assistance in the coordination of departmental retirement activities and communications
- Identification of opportunities to support organizational initiatives and the development of communication materials and programs to promote and publicize retirement savings
- Compliance with Public Act 314 and federal statutes
- Regular update of monthly and quarterly electronic newsletters with information on upcoming events, helpful tools, and news from our resource partners
- Facilitation of communication and collaboration between departments or other groups to enhance functionality and communication of retirement savings
- Representation of the organization in external relations
Educational Requirements/Experience Requirements:
- HS Diploma/GED equivalent and three years of experience in communications using various communication techniques and resources; OR
- HS Diploma/ GED, one (1) year supervisory experience & two (2) years of experience in communications using various communication techniques and resources; OR
- Associate's degree from a recognized university or college, with a major in communication, business, administration, management, journalism, or a related field, and one (1) year of experience in communications using communication techniques and resources: OR
- Bachelor's degree with a major in communication, business, administration, management, journalism, or a related field;
