Job Summary

The Wayne County Department of Health, Human and Veterans Services (HHVS) serves to promote, empower, and improve the wellbeing of Wayne County residents through programs, policies, and partnerships that address the social and environmental determinants that drive inequities in wellbeing at all stages of life. HHVS accomplishes its mission by building policies, programs, and partnerships that close resource gaps between our highest and lowest-resourced communities and residents. The Department is comprised of the Director's Office which includes units such as Central Operations, Special Projects, Epidemiology, Quality Improvement, Information Technology, Health Equity, and Health Promotion and Planning and six operational divisions: Public Health, Clinical Care Services, Access to Care, Medical Examiner's Office, Transition Services, and Veterans Services.

HHVS seeks motivated, dedicated interns to join our Health Fellows Internship. This program offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of health and human services and positively impact our community's health. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, the intern will work in one of the six division or Director's Office areas to contribute to real-world projects and initiatives. The internship is eight (8) weeks and will begin June 3, and end July 25, 2025. Please complete the HHVS Internship Application attached to this posting.
