As a Simulation Engineer at Design Systems, Inc., you will be responsible for developing, verifying, and validating simulation models to evaluate manufacturing systems, material flow, transportation strategies, and production line efficiency. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented problem solver with experience in discrete event simulation and a solid understanding of automotive or manufacturing environments.
Develop, verify, and validate simulation models using dynamic simulation tools (preferably Siemens Plant Simulation)
Model and analyze production lines, material handling systems, and transportation networks
Conduct simulation studies to evaluate:
Throughput, bottlenecks, and downtime
Delivery routes and operator efficiency
Vehicle, pallet, and carrier resource utilization
Storage capacity and sensitivity analysis
Create and maintain simulation asset libraries (AGVs, conveyors, cranes, ASRS, etc.)
Develop and present simulation results and recommendations via reports and presentations
Support cross-functional teams during project planning and execution phases
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to align simulation outcomes with project goals
Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer across the simulation team
Required:
Minimum of 3+ years' experience in simulation model development (preferably with Plant Simulation from Siemens)
Solid understanding of discrete event simulation and material flow modeling
Experience with manufacturing engineering and production systems
Familiarity with various material handling and transportation systems (AGVs, fork trucks, tuggers, conveyors, etc.)
Programming experience (Plant Simulation SimTalk preferred)
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); VBA experience a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to travel as required
Preferred:
Experience developing simulations for power & free, skid, and monorail conveyor systems
Exposure to crane systems, ASRS, and automated storage solutions
Prior experience with bottleneck analysis, resource optimization, and throughput studies
Leadership or mentoring experience in a technical or project environment
Work on innovative and high-impact projects within the automotive and manufacturing sectors
Be part of a collaborative and experienced engineering team
Opportunities for professional growth and development
