Job Summary

Under the direction of the Division Director of Veteran Services, the Community Services Supervisor will assist in establishing, building, and implementing the Wayne County's Veteran Outreach Program. The Community Services Supervisor will build on current agency relationships within the Outreach Program and build new relationships with Veteran support organizations throughout Wayne County. The Community Services Supervisor will oversee all community outreach initiatives.

Required Tasks

  • Assist in the developmental guidance on contractual obligations in support of Wayne County Veteran Services.
  • Communicate the needs of Veterans to support agencies.
  • Assist the Director on all matters related to veteran services.
  • Travels to community events, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Educational/ Experience Requirements

  • An Associate degree in psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Guidance and Counseling or Human/Social Services.
  • A valid State of Michigan Driver's License.
  • At least one (1) year of full-time paid experience providing services to veterans and their families. OR
  • At least one (1) year of full-time paid experience performing community outreach services, including interfacing with community groups and municipalities
  • NOTE: PRIOR ACTIVE-DUTY MILITARY EXPERIENCE, WHICH MUST INCLUDE LEADING SUBORDINATES, CAN BE SUBSTITUTED FOR THE REQUIRED ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE LISTED ABOVE.
