Part-Time Jail Officer Positions


The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is hiring Part-Time Jail Officers for positions in the Wayne County Jail System. Retired Police Officers are encouraged to apply. These at-will part-time positions pay $29.42 per hour.


Major Job Duties
• Booking, searching and guarding prisoners
• Providing security for the jail facility
• Perform other duties assigned



Requirements (Only for Part-Time Jail Officer):
• Must be a citizen of the United States
• Must be at least 18 years old and have obtained a high school diploma or GED
• Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License and a good driving record
Three (3) years full-time paid experience in the Wayne County Sheriff's Office as a Police Officer
• Must pass a background investigation
• Must pass the EMPCO Corrections test
• Must pass the Michigan Sheriff's Coordinating and Training Council's Physical Agility test (LCOPAT)
