Purpose/Description

Reporting to the Team Lead of Systems Engineering, the Department Executive - Systems Engineer duties involve developing, implementing, and maintaining large enterprise-wide systems both cloud and on premise. Responsibilities may include: design and development of systems and/or enhancements to existing systems, and capable of fully meeting business needs and objectives. This position performs a full range of system support functions requiring a background focusing on cloud and O365 administration. Work is a hybrid environment and performed under supervision.

Required Tasks

The assigned individual will report directly to the Team Lead of Systems Engineering. The employee shall perform services and support for the County's technology infrastructure. Services shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Administration and design of Microsoft O365 environment.
  • Administration and design of Microsoft Intune.
  • Administration of conditional access policies.
  • Administration of Azure AD.
  • Manage, create, and maintain various PowerShell scripts.
  • Maintain, administer, and design virtual environments on premise and in the cloud.
  • Configure/reconfigure virtual and physical servers as needed.
  • Perform SAN related administrative tasks.
  • Gather information for root cause analysis and document findings.
  • Maintain and administer various system monitoring tools.
  • Manage server and pc patching/updating via co-managed SCCM/Intune environment.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of all modifications.
  • Troubleshoot and/or resolve problem calls dispatched by the Wayne County Service Desk.
  • Off-hours support for system related problem calls.




Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or similar discipline from a recognized college or university, or equivalent work experience.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise system design, development, and implementation projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience administrating Microsoft Windows Server
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing and advanced administration of Active Directory
  • Minimum 5 years of experience configuring and advanced administration of Microsoft O365 environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing and advanced administration of Virtual environments.
