A Fiscal Analyst performs professional-level fiscal analysis, research, accounting,
forecasting, and budget-related work involved with related financial and budgetary
systems. Performs professional-level fiscal analysis of expenses and revenues for
multiple County departments. Prepares an overview of the budget submitted by the
County Executive.

• Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of County departments as a basis for
budget analysis.
• Prepare fiscal analysis for contract review.
• Assist the Commission in evaluating departmental budget requests.
• Prepare document budget changes proposed by Commissioners during budget
• Assist the Commission in preparing the annual appropriations ordinance and
budget execution instructions.
• Assist in brainstorming and idea planning.
• Utilizing comparisons with benchmark communities to evaluate direct/indirect
costs of services provided by the County.
• Assist and/or oversee the annual updating of the budget for the County, including
identifying new and ongoing operation's needs.
• Comparing departmental budgets with actuals to identify significant trends.
• Interact with Management and Budget personnel to obtain projection criteria and
• Prepare an overview of the budget submitted by the County Executive.

• Attend Commission and/or Committee meetings.
• Monitor Committee agendas to identify items with budget significance or
• Provide financial support for the Commission.
• Prepare independent financial/budget projections upon request.
• Coordinate with other County Commission personnel, including department
heads to obtain additional information needed.

• Strong initiative, self-motivation, and ability to perform with limited supervision.
• Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task.
• Strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, and strong attention to
• Strong investigative, analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with budget analysis and governmental accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a major in finance or
accounting; 3 years of work experience in governmental accounting or finance.
• Personal computer literacy required; general computer literacy preferred.
• Two years work experience in budget analysis.
• Salary range: $50,000-$60,000.
