IMMEDIATE OPENINGS

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney will review and authorize requests for warrants; determine the appropriate charge and prosecute misdemeanor, felony, and juvenile cases. Qualified candidates will have minimal experience prosecuting felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile cases.

QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctorate Degree; must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan; experience in criminal law is preferred.

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES: Interview victims of crime and law enforcement officials requesting warrants; determine whether to charge and authorize warrants as deemed necessary.

Analyze police reports, case investigations, laboratory reports, witness statements and identification records.

Handle assignments in all courts which include: Circuit, District, Juvenile and Probate. Prepare for trials and court proceedings. Draft briefs and legal memoranda. Conduct felony, and misdemeanor trials, preliminary examinations, pretrials and evidentiary hearings.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
